The Clean Up day in April was well attended by Hands on Atlanta volunteers and a few neighbors, but, unfortunately we got rained out after only an hour. Still, in that hour, we managed to pick up an obscene amount of trash. Unfortunately, our efforts were short lived. Our next clean up won't be until October, so meanwhile, small, individual efforts to help keep the neighborhood clean -- picking up trash on the street near your home, if you’re out taking a walk, etc.-- will help immensely. I've said this more than once before I'm sure, but it bears repeating - When the neighborhood is clean and well cared for, it commands respect. When it looks neglected, people don't mind littering in it, and as I know Wes has mentioned before, are more likely to commit crime in it.
Thanks!
