Dear neighbors,

Over the last several months a coordinated effort has been put forth by many of our residents concerning the development of the "Park" for the Berkeley Park Neighborhood. We have had a chance to weigh in on many different aspects on our moving forward with developing the Park, and I encourage anyone who would like to be involved with the future planning process to jump in head first. When we reach our goal of having the Park, everyone involved can take pride in the fact that we have accomplished this goal as a community. We have a strong history of spearheading goals for this community and we have set up a Park Committee to spearhead this effort. I would like to see more forward thinking neighbors and businesses within the entire neighborhood boundaries step forward and join us in this effort to create the Park.

We have opened dialogues with the Georgia Land Trust, The Trust for Public Land, and Project Greenspace. Within the City we have contacted The Atlanta Development Authority's Planning Division, Department of Parks, Department of Park Visioning, Department of Park Design and Clair Muller. Trees Atlanta, Park Pride, Path Foundation, and the Beltline Partnership have all been informed of our efforts. All have had a very positive response to the concept. We have met with two fundraising groups, Corporate Community Outsourcing and Wellspring Resource Management, both of which agree the resources are available to make this concept a reality.

The next Neighborhood meeting will be held on Monday, June 18th at 7 pm in the Senior Citizens Center at the corner of Bellemeade and Commerce. At this meeting we will discuss what the Park committee has been working on in order to secure the land for the park in further detail. This discussion will be followed by a call for a vote of the neighborhood to make our first step in securing the land for the Park. This will be the starting point from which the master plan for the project will grow into what will be spectacular. I encourage you to make the effort necessary to create a Park all of Berkeley Park can be proud of and enjoy with their family and friends forever.

I look forward to the day I can sit, relax and enjoy "Berkeley Park" with you,

Ron Horgan
